The doctors at Kimberley Medical Group are experienced in providing family planning advice and support including pre-pregnancy assessment, contraception advice, assistance with fertility issues and also antenatal care and postnatal checks.
We have doctors at our practice that are able to insert and remove Mirena and Copper Intrauterine Devices (IUDs). If you wish to have an IUD inserted, you will need at least two appointments. At the first appointment you and your doctor will determine if it is the right choice for you. Your GP will take a detailed history and perform a physical examination. They will also answer any questions you may have. The second appointment is then made for the insertion process if it is deemed appropriate. This is performed on-site with the assistance of our Practice Nurse. No referral letter is required.
If your doctor feels that an IUD is not the right choice for you, they will discuss with other available options and help you choose a contraceptive method that is best suited for you.
When making an appointment please inform our receptionists that it is for IUD so that we can book you with the right doctor.
