Understanding International FASD Day

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) are lifelong conditions caused by prenatal alcohol exposure. Raising awareness about FASD helps create a safer, healthier future for children and families. The 9th of September is International FASD Day and it reminds us of the importance of supporting alcohol-free pregnancies.

We’ve pledged to go alcohol-free every year on the day, and it’s a good opportunity to encourage and support women to have alcohol-free pregnancies. Choosing to go alcohol-free during pregnancy is one of the most powerful ways to protect a baby from preventable health and developmental challenges.

The doctors at Kimberley Medical Group are here to answer any questions you may have about FASD or alcohol use during pregnancy. If you’d like to learn more or discuss your concerns, please reach out to our team today.
